About Us imageAbout Us imageAbout Us image

Julia's Well is a non-profit community charitable pantry dedicated to helping individuals and families who are struggling to find enough food to eat and clothes to wear and who are in need of essential household items. Founded by twin sisters Gay Nelson and Rae Lloyd in 2015, the pantry is named after their mother, Julia Emory.
Julia taught her daughters how to faithfully serve God and to graciously serve humanity. With a heart of love, she compassionately showed God's love to ALL people. She never grew weary of well doing, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children. We are so proud to have our pantry in the same house that our mother operated a community pantry!

Julia's Well currently houses a community charitable pantry providing free food, clothes and household items located at
4076 Jolly Road, Ayden, NC 28513

HOURS:
Our Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays 10:00am-1:00pm (for elderly 70 and older)
Our Food Pantry is open on Thursdays 10:00am-1:00pm (for the general public)
Our Sharing Shed is open on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 10:00am-1:00pm

Our Sharing Shed, which is in the large shed next to the house, is where you will find clothes and household items.

This is how we love our neighbors.

Our caring volunteers make the workload much easier. We couldn't do it without them!

We are growing daily with new ways to help those in need. The needs are great and constant, but we believe God is too!

Julia's Well is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and all donations are tax-deductible.

Your kindness and especially your prayers are appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Gay Nelson

CEO & Founder

Gay has a genuine passion to help people in desperate need, which she attributes to her mother's kind-heartedness toward her community and love for her family. Along with her sisters, Gay graduated from Ayden-Grifton High School and Pitt Community College. She and her husband, Patrick, attend Living Faith Church in Ayden. Gay retired from Eastern Radiologists after 25 years of service as a medical transcriptionist. After a few years, she came out of retirement to manage the daily activities of Julia's Well. "I'm my happiest when I'm serving the community that gave me some of my fondest memories."

Rae Lloyd

Asst CEO & Co-Founder

Rae and her husband, Eddie, currently pastor Living Faith Church which is a blessing to Julia's Well by allowing us to house our pantry in it's building as well as supporting us financially. Rae also graduated from Ayden-Grifton High School and Pitt Community College and had a career as a medical transcriptionist. She and her husband have two sons. She serves with a glad heart both at Julia's Well and in her church.

Paula Morris

Administrative Assistant

Paula has been with Julia's Well since the beginning. She has always enjoyed serving the people who come for help and she prays for them earnestly. Paula had various careers including accouting and as a hair stylist, but is now a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren. Her comittment, expertise and genuine personality are a special blessing to Julia's Well.

Diane Smith

Food Distribution Coordinator

Diane coordinates all our shopping, storage and distribution of food. She graciously serves the people in our food pantry on Wednesdays and Thursdays asking each one what items they would like to help feed their families at home. It's a task that requires attention to the needs of each person and to the details of having the items available at the pantry when needed. Diane is a retired nurse whose attention to details and extreme compassion complement her work. We are grateful for her dedication to serve diligently at Julia's Well.
